Mater Dei College student engineers learning through Melbourne trip

MATER Dei College student Mark Richardson-Pitt recently returned from an all-expenses-paid trip aimed at budding engineers.

The Edgewater school’s Year 11 student was one of 21 selected for the six-day tour to Melbourne, where they visited four of the city’s leading universities and their engineering labs. Mark said he enjoyed every moment of the camp.

“I met a lot of great people from all around Australia,” he said.

“I (was) very humbled to be offered the opportunity to participate in this camp.

“It has broadened my horizons in terms of universities and about life outside WA.”

Year 11 co-ordinator Aoife O’Shea said it was a great opportunity for the keen maths and science student.

“The trip has enabled Mark to see the benefits in pursuing a career in engineering in the future,” she said.
