MELBOURNE Cup fever swept across the city today with many celebrating at events across Perth.
Hosting its first Melbourne Cup event after opening earlier this year, Varsity Joondalup opted for a “simple but elegant affair with specials on bubbly and a sweepstakes”.
Guests we encouraged to “dress to the nines and enjoy the race with great food, drinks and our big screens”.
It was a more formal function at The Pavilion at Mindarie Marina, with a three-course sit-down luncheon, canaps on arrival, flowing bubbles and premium wines and beers.
Television personality Karl Langdon hosted the event with sweepstakes, fashion of the fields and prizes.
The event then flowed into a Post-Cup Party at Cabana Pool Bar and BBQ with live DJ and cocktails.
The Ashby Bar and Bistro offered different options for guests.
There was the choice of a seated gourmet buffet and carvery with all the trimmings in the bistro or a canaps and cocktail Garden Bar Party.
Both options include complimentary sparkling on arrival and live entertainment throughout the day, with Arthur King and Matt Burke into the evening.
There were also sweepstakes and prizes for best dressed and best hat.
