A MAN has been killed after being struck by a train in Perth’s north this morning.
The Mitchell Freeway was closed in both directions at Warwick Road in Duncraig and Joondalup line trains were cancelled because of the incident and an earlier road crash.
Police are still trying to ascertain the precise circumstances but at about 7.30am they were called to a crash involving three to four vehicles at the turn off to Warwick Road from the Mitchell Freeway.
One of the occupants reportedly left the area on foot, and shortly after it was reported that a man had been hit by a train approximately 500 metres north of the scene of the crash, killing him.
Police are working to determine if there is a link between the two incidents.
St John Ambulance have taken a number of people to Joondalup Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Anyone with information or dash cam vision is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or by making a report online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
Trains on the Joondalup Line were cancelled between Whitfords Station and Stirling Station.
Replacement buses are being organised to run between those stations.
