Laura PondJoondalup Times

THE Mitchell Freeway has opened to traffic from Burns Beach Road to Hester Avenue but some connecting roads remain closed.

A Main Roads spokeswoman said they were hoping to open the remaining areas later this month, subject to weather conditions.

Neerabup Road from Connolly Drive eastbound to the freeway is closed, as well as the Neerabup Road northbound freeway on-ramp, Celebration Drive connection to Neerabup and the Hester Avenue eastbound left turn to Wanneroo Road.

The shared path along the freeway extension will open in sections as they are ready.

The spokeswoman said a minimum of five consecutive days without rain were needed to finish the works, which include laying asphalt, relocating light poles and road connections works.

There are also road closures tonight and Friday night from 7pm to 5am on Hester Avenue eastbound between the freeway and Wanneroo Road and the Wanneroo Road southbound access to Hester.
