THE City of Joondalup’s multi-storey carpark has won a national award.

The Reid Promenade facility, which opened earlier this year, won outstanding new carpark at Parking Australia’s Parking Industry Awards.

Parking Australia chief executive Lorraine Duffy said judges noted its forward-thinking design.

They praised features from the range of green energy saving measures to the streamlined ticketless system to ease congestion throughout peak periods, she said.

Hames Sharley Architects designed the $17.3 million carpark and Georgiou Group built it.

The five-level, 570-bay facility includes licence plate recognition technology for ticketless parking, as well as solar panels, smart lighting, harvesting of natural daylight and ventilation, minimising operating costs.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the award was well-deserved national recognition for the City and everyone who worked on the “largest infrastructure project our City has ever undertaken”.
