SONGS, art, cooking and stories formed part of Naidoc Day celebrations at Duncraig Primary School.

Students did a range of activities during the day, including creating artwork, making damper, planting bush tucker plants local to the area and learning the Dreamtime story of how Lake Joondalup was created.

Deputy principal Leah Clegg said there was great involvement from parents and students deepened their understanding and appreciation of indigenous culture.

“Naidoc was an opportunity for the whole school community to continue learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures,” she said.

“I liked the way everyone was able to enjoy experiences that celebrated our First Nations people.”
