KINROSS College is set to get its first school bus, with the State Government providing $70,000.
Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery visited the school on August 3 with Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard to announce the funding, provided through the Local Projects Local Jobs program.
Principal Rod Buckenara said the State funds would cover about half the cost of the bus, enabling the school to buy one sooner than it could if it had to save money for it.

Mr Buckenara said the college would use the bus, which he hoped to buy this year, to take its 650 students on excursions, and in the cadet, outdoor education and sporting programs.
“The school community has been calling for a new school bus for years,” Mr Folkard said.
“This funding will allow greater mobility and independence for Kinross College.
“Kinross College has an active parent body, which has been working hard to secure extra resources for their school.”
