Nod for amended home business policy

The policy is used to guide the requirements for home business applications to ensure the amenity of residential neighbourhoods is maintained.

In April 2014, councillors voted to advertise an amended draft home business policy for public comment.

It included additional and improved provisions for operating hours, car parking, signage, location and approval periods.

It was advertised for three weeks with one late submission received.

In line with recent State Administrative Tribunal decision, it was then modified to only require time limited approvals where an applicant cannot demonstrate the home business will not negatively affect nearby landowners.
