IT’S full steam ahead for Ocean Reef Primary School’s 30th anniversary fete this Saturday.

Organisers haven’t missed a beat despite the community waking to shock vandalism at the school last Friday.

The school started in 1988, with foundation principal John Thompson establishing a maritime theme to reflect its coastal location.

The school community continues to uphold it, with current principal Peter Blackwell known as the commanding officer of the State School Ship Ocean Reef.

Mr Blackwell, who praised the community after last week’s vandalism, said the school had a commitment to charting a course of fun, adventure and learning for the ship’s company.

The November 24 fete will include a rope climbing course, bouncy castle, old-fashioned games and a train ride.

There will be stalls for second-hand goods, plants and local businesses, as well as food vendors, a dance troupe, martial arts, face painter and band.

The fete runs from 11am to 4pm.
