WORK is set to start on an upgrade to the intersection of Ocean Reef Road and Joondalup Drive, Edgewater.

The State Government has chipped in $1.5 million and the City of Joondalup about $165,000 in the City-managed eight-week project.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the work would lead to more efficient traffic movement.

“Traffic issues have grown in Edgewater in recent years and the City has worked collaboratively with the State Government to find a solution,” he said.

“Upgrades to the intersection will allow for better flow of vehicles… and should also have a positive impact on the nearby Edgewater Drive-Ocean Reef Road intersection, which has also faced some challenges at peak periods.”

TRACC Civil won the tender to complete the works.

Motorists are advised to take an alternative route during peak hour.
