Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

CRAIGIE Leisure Centre has scored 100 per cent in a recent safety audit.

The centre scored 177 points in the Royal Life Saving Society WA audit, which covered areas of management, design and operations.

This included administration, chemical safety, water treatment, first aid, technical operations, facility design, spa pool, water spray park, water features, general supervision and swimming lessons.

The City of Joondalup facility was one of four out of 129 leisure centres in WA to receive 100 per cent.

The Royal Life Saving Society WA has conducted five audits in the past six years at Craigie, with strong results each time: 96.89 per cent in 2011, 97.43 in 2012, 97.77 in 2014, 98.86 in 2015 and 100 in 2016.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the audit assessed how Craigie Leisure Centre compared to other facilities in WA and would improve its safety processes.

“This exceptional result demonstrates the strong commitment the team at Craigie Leisure Centre has towards best practice aquatic safety standards,” he said.
