Petition to progress East Green

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

KINGSLEY MLA Jessica Stojkovski is calling on the Housing Minister to progress the construction of the East Green development in Greenwood.

Ms Stojkovski said she had again raised residents’ concerns with Minister Peter Tinley about the long time it was taking for the project on the site of the old East Greenwood Primary School to be completed, as well as it failing to meet the needs of potential buyers due to a lack of housing choice.

“I held a street corner site meeting in June and met with concerned residents who would like to see the project finished,” she said.

“I believe the residents have been patient long enough and the minister responsible should act to complete the project in a reasonable time frame.”

Ms Stojkovski said the project, which has been earmarked for at least five years, would now be redesigned to take in the concerns and feedback from local residents and potential buyers.

“I was very excited to learn about the development and its potential to be a new hub for the community in Greenwood,” she said.

East green is a development partnership between the Department of Communities and Frasers Property to deliver a mix of housing options, public open space and possibly a facility for a pop-up café or shop.

Sales for the development were launched two years ago following a ceremonial sod turning in December, 2016.

At the time, the $51 million three-storey development was going create 138 homes by its completion in 2020.
