To meet the needs of the current and forecasted membership and provide the necessary training and community services, a redevelopment concept plan has been proposed by the committee to increase the internal building floor area of the clubhouse from 1335sq m to 2124sq m, with 885sq m of external courtyard, deck and wash down areas.

Mr Goodenough is seeking a funding contribution to the City of Joondalup to facilitate this redevelopment.

Heathridge Park is used by thousands of local residents including the Ocean Ridge junior and amateur football clubs, Ocean Ridge junior and senior cricket clubs and the Ocean Ridge Tennis Club.

“The ageing clubroom facilities are more than 30 years old and inadequate to meet the needs of our growing population,” Mr Goodenough said.

He said a larger and more modern changeroom, toilet, clubroom and kitchen facilities were required to accommodate increasing numbers of junior and female participants.

Though the City of Joondalup will take the lead in managing the redevelopment, Mr Goodenough said the project required support from all three levels of government.

HBF Arena is a shared clubhouse facility for several sporting clubs including the Joondalup Brothers Rugby Union Football Club, Joondalup Little Athletics Club, Team XTR Triathlon, Joondalup Netball Association and Joondalup Lakers Hockey Club, and other community groups.

Mr Goodenough said funding to the State Government to construct a patio and kitchen extension would benefit all users.

“A strong show of community support will help secure funding from all levels of government to enable these important projects to go ahead,” Mr Goodenough said.
