A DUNCRAIG water expert’s decades-long contribution to the Department of Water earned him an Australia Day Achievement Medallion.
Roy Stone was acknowledged for what Department Director General Mike Rowe described as an “extraordinary number of firsts”, including the first specification to contract a private company to lay a public water supply line. He also promoted better relations with indigenous communities.
“Roy led development of WA’s first water allocation plan to comprehensively consider Aboriginal cultural values,” Mr Rowe said.
