POLICE are on the hunt for a robber who stole from five jewellery stores across the northern suburbs since September.

Detective Senior Constable Stuart Neeter said the thief stole high-value items from stores in Whitfords, Greenwood, Karrinyup, Wanneroo and Clarkson in the past eight weeks.

“The person of interest enters the store and has, what appears to be, a casual conversation with sales staff,” he said.

“Then he asks to view items and once he’s viewing the items he selected, he takes the items and runs from the store.

“Generally it’s gold chains, rings and bracelets … primarily gold items.

“It would be a significant amount that has been stolen.”

Police have released CCTV footage of the most recent incident at a Greenwood jewellery store.

Detective Neeter said the stores targeted were a mix of chain and family-run jewellery stores.

“The times have been generally sporadic of when he’s offending,” he said.

“It’s generally weekdays from the information at hand.”
