AN Ocean Reef school will launch a venture on Wednesday aimed at bringing the community into its grounds.
Prendiville Catholic College will launch The Hub on February 22 with two workshops aimed at small to medium enterprises in a bid to raise its profile as a forward-thinking educational facility.
College business manager Terry Raphael and community engagement manager Chris Greenwood have collaborated on the idea of a hub for the past year.

READ NOWThey said it was an exciting time to place an “innovative facility in the northern suburbs”, which would run on a profit-share arrangement with prospective clients.
“Given utilities and labour, it is a break-even deal for us,” Mr Greenwood said.

He said it provided a venue for innovative and mainstream start-up businesses to operate from, without regular beginning costs and overheads.
Mr Greenwood said they would develop a timetable of events for people thinking about starting businesses, whether it was yoga classes, brewing, niche film festivals, vintage car carnivals or amateur podcasters.
“The Hub will employ a full-time co-ordinator and community engagement manager,” he said.
“The Hub will launch a comprehensive website in the coming weeks which will become a one-stop online shop for any inquiry.”
This Wednesday’s workshops, presented by journalists Linda Parkes and Lorraine Horsley, include ‘Make the media work for you’ and ‘Crafting the media release from idea to final draft’.
