Punch damages eye

Senior Sergeant Brad Burnett said the men were with a third man at a Kinross house about 4pm on April 29.

He said the third man and the accused (20) became involved in an argument.

"A third male assaulted the accused," he said. Police said the accused then turned on his friend of five years, whom he believed had not helped in the argument.

The friend (21) suffered a fractured nose and eye socket, which resulted in a permanent visual impairment.

On July 2, police charged the man with grievous bodily harm. He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrates Court on July 24.
