Purple Road winds its way to Joondalup Library

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

THE Purple Road has been making its way around Perth.

The 3m-long display is a community awareness campaign made up of hundreds of handmade crocheted and knitted purple flowers contributed via art and craft groups, older adults of the community and volunteers.

Every flower represents someone’s story and symbolises the prevention of elder abuse.

The project was an initiative of the Northern Suburbs Community Legal Centre and Southern Communities Advocacy Legal and Education Service.

It’s journey started at the City of Stirling’s libraries before it went to Parliament House to be presented to Seniors and Ageing Minister Mick Murray.

The Purple Road will be at Joondalup Library until next Wednesday, December 13.
