JOONDALUP’S annual Remembrance Day service will be held at Ocean Reef this Friday because of the staging of the Kaleidescope festival in the city centre.

The City of Joondalup-Joondalup City RSL service will be at the Ocean Reef War Memorial off Boat Harbour Quays from 10.45am to 11.30am.

Vietnam veteran Kevin Emberson will speak while the Ocean Reef Primary School Choir will lead the national anthem.

A minute’s silence will be observed at 11am to commemorate the 98th anniversary of the Armistice signing to mark the end of the World War I.

Poppies will be available and attendees will be able to lay wreaths.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the City looked forward to holding the ceremony at Ocean Reef.

“Looking out over the ocean, the Ocean Reef War Memorial is simply stunning and we hope the new location will encourage even more people than ever to attend what is certain to be a moving ceremony,” he said.

“I encourage people of all ages to wear their poppy with pride on November 11.”
