Remembrance Day: Thousand attend Armistice commemoration in Joondalup’s Central Park

A WALL of poppies was part of this year’s Central Park Remembrance Day service attended by about 1000 people on Sunday.

Those in attendance placed poppies on a dedicated wall in the Joondalup park renamed Armistice Park for the ceremony marking 100 years since the end of World War I.

The City of Joondalup was allocated about $28,000 through the Armistice centenary grants program to hold the service with Joondalup City RSL.

Artwork from local students working with artists depicted themes from WWI and Remembrance Day.

The schools involved in the project were Warwick Senior High School, St Stephen’s School, Kinross College, and Craigie Heights, Bambara and St Luke’s Catholic primary schools.
