MEMBERS of the Rotary Club of Joondalup flew to Thailand recently in support of Rotary Duffy Boys Town, an initiative helping orphan boys finish high school studies.
Seven members flew to Thailand to witness first-hand how their fundraising had helped the initiative.
“In collaboration with the Rotary Club of Nedlands, we donate $1000 on a yearly basis,” youth director Eliza Bourgault du Coudray said.
“This covers the expenses for one boy for a year.
“Through sausage sizzles, movie nights and the sale of raffle tickets, we have raised funds for solar panels to be put at Boys Town, as well as a water pump.
“The most rewarding part of it all was knowing that had Boys Town never been built, or had never been supported, these boys would most likely live in poverty and that their world would be one of closed doors.”
