Schools get flashing speed signs installed

The $36 million project, funded through the Road Trauma Trust Account, means 452 schools across the state will have the signs installed.

The project is part of a 2013 election commitment to provide the signs to all 1071 schools in WA by 2017.

“We have seen fewer people speeding through school zones over the last few years but we will continue getting the message out there that if you speed through a school zone, you are endangering the lives of children,” Road Safety Minister Liza Harvey said.

But the rate of fatalities has dropped 34 per cent since 2008, she said.
