SHOWERS from above and below threatened a northern suburbs Anzac Day dawn service today.

A late bid to turn off the sprinkler system coupled with autumn drizzle dampened the mood at Ocean Reef Sea Sports Club (ORSSC) before daylight.

Hundreds of people gathered at the Anzac Centenary memorial at Ocean Reef RSL’s home to commemorate service men and women.

ORSSC commodore Gary Bell read ‘In Flanders Fields’ then resident Rick Green gave the commemorative address.
