Space Odyssey finale for Joondalup Festival

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

THIS year’s Joondalup Festival finale will be set to the hypnotic sounds of David Bowie.

Central Park, which will be renamed Nebula Park from April 5 to 7, will host the visual and dance spectacular Odyssey to end the festival on Sunday night with a bang.

Artistically directed by WA’s own Bernie Bernard and featuring performances by the Powerhouse Dance Company, Hip Hop Choreography and the WA Academy of Performing Arts, the finale will be a colourful dance party that aims to leave the audience feeling uplifted.

Mayor Albert Jacob said it would be a “real treat for Bowie fans and full of unexpected interactive experiences for the audience to enjoy”.

“This year we’ve invited people to ‘Explore the Galaxy’ as the theme of the 2019 festival and the finale just encourages that to continue – we want people to get involved, enjoy a space odyssey adventure and have some fun,” he said.

“Odyssey will be a complete visual masterpiece with lights, dancers, music and lots of colour – we think it’s going to be one of the highlights of the 2019 festival and we can’t wait to share it with you.”

All events at the Joondalup Festival are free and family friendly.
