“A performance of this magnitude and quality requires months of planning and rehearsals,” she said.

“The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes including stage design and construction, costumes, choreography, sound, make-up and lighting is astounding and it is a credit to the school, students and the community.

“I’m excited to open the doors to the public on June 22.”

Based on the book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, Thoroughly Modern Millie is set in 1920s New York.

Millie Dillmount, a naive young woman from Kansas, goes to New York determined to be modern like the flappers who are raising their hemlines, entering the workforce and rewriting the rules of love.

Shows will be at the Duncraig school’s theatre at 7pm on June 22 to 25, 1.30pm on June 25 and 3pm on June 26.

Tickets are $18 or $12 for concession from www.trybooking.com/JNMN.
