APPRENTICE chefs from Joondalup’s West Coast Institute recently proved they had award-winning skills in a national competition.

For the first time, the campus hosted the Australian Culinary Federation Fonterra Foodservice National Apprentice Competition final in October.

Three students won medals on the day: full-time student Lin Kuo Cheng and second year apprentice Mark Johnson secured golds, while first year apprentice Linh Tran won silver.

During the competition, finalists had to visit a local market with a budget to buy ingredients and had access to ingredients from four sponsor companies.
