Students inspired by art to choose kindness

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

AN artistic mum is inspiring community and kindness at Whitford Catholic Primary School.

Renee McAlpine, who is a parent of two boys at the Craigie school, has spent the past few months sharing her love of art and inspiring students.

Not only is she running two art classes at the school, in her own time in the hope of nurturing budding artists, but she also designed and painted a mural at a recent school fete where the community was encouraged to join and help paint the artwork that now hangs in the school grounds.

Her latest project has also generated interest from students at the school who have picked up a paint brush and helped paint another permanent mural which has a simple message: “choose kindness”.
