Students plant trees at local park

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

THE Montessori School students have been working to rejuvenate the bushland at Timberlane Park in Woodvale.

Students from the upper primary and lower secondary classrooms have been cleaning and weeding the area and have planed 250 trees as part of the City of Joondalup’s Adopt a Bushland initiative.

The school also had several incursions including ecologist Mandy Bamford who spoke about biodiversity and the ecosystem of healthy soils and Nearer to Nature, which focused on indigenous plant use and the importance of totems.

“The hands-on work at Timberlane Park gave students a sense of ownership,” lower secondary generalist Lena Streiff Kosok said.
