Mullaloo Surf nippers shine in inter-state event

Ryley Gardener came home with a gold medal in the under-14 boys’ board race and a silver in the ironman, while Kane Smith won a gold in the under-15 boys’ ironman and a silver in the surf race.

Now in its fifth year, the junior beach and surf challenge is open to competitors from under-9 to under-15 years and was created by champion ironman Zane Holmes to promote development in the sport.

Mullaloo will host round four of seven on November 22. Events include the beach sprint, beach flags, surf race, board race, iron person and relays.

New this year will be a pre-event ocean swim run open to everyone (not just surf lifesavers) aged six to over 60.

It consists of a 200m swim and 2km beach run.
