Sacred Heart College’s Marie Blackburn was recently announced as one of 10 A Day Made Better award winners out of 23,000 nominations Australia-wide.

Students, peers, colleagues, parents and families could nominate a teacher they felt was “inspiring” and an “unsung hero of the community”, with the awards open to secondary school teachers for the first time in the award’s five-year history.

Ms Blackburn, who works in the school’s Mary McKillop Centre, was thrown a surprise celebration where she was presented with the award and $2000 worth of prizes, including office products and a tablet for the classroom.
