Our photographer Martin Kennealey spotted these green tentacles poking out of the City of Joondalup’s administration building on Tuesday, sparking our curiosity.

“How do you let people know there is a major community arts festival around the corner,” the City said.

“Hang giant tentacles from the building.”

Until April 8, the Boas Avenue building will feature tentacles emerging from balconies and the roof, creating the impression a giant alien is “set to squeeze itself out of the confines and into the city centre below”.

The tentacles, from Designs in Air, have featured at many major events and exhibitions around the world and will also light up at night.
