Craigie woman (23) and man killed after being hit by truck

A 23-year-old woman from Craigie and the man she was walking with have been killed after they were hit by a truck in the Wheatbelt region.

The crash occurred about 12:30am this morning, involving a Mack truck that was travelling east along Brookton Highway near Woods Loop in Jelcobine.

The truck took a left hand bend and hit the pedestrians who were walking along the carriageway.

The Craigie woman and a man in his 20s died at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.
