Upgrade works scheduled for Hepburn Avenue in Duncraig

Tyler BrownJoondalup Times

THE City of Joondalup will be upgrading Hepburn Avenue in Duncraig in early 2019.

The project was identified following a road safety audit, with the works to be co-funded by the City and the State Government through its Black Spot Program.

Works will involve the construction of additional 1.8m wide road shoulders on sides of Hepburn Avenue between Marmion Avenue and the Mitchell Freeway.

Once completed, the extra shoulder will remove the sandy drop off and provide space for vehicles to use as a recovery zone.

The works will also provide a safer space for cyclists to ride.

Mayor Albert Jacob said this section of Hepburn Avenue was a “major thoroughfare from the Mitchell Freeway towards Hillarys Boat Harbour”.

“This project will not only promote convenient and efficient traffic movement but facilitate greater opportunities for cyclists,” he said.
