THE shorelines and waterways in Hillarys Boat Harbour will be cleaned up this weekend.

The Department of Transport and NARC Dive Club have organised the eighth annual land and underwater clean-up, which involves teams of divers and snorkelers collecting rubbish from the harbour waters and other volunteers cleaning up the other precincts.

Coastal facilities management director Shelley Grice said despite department reminders to be considerate, “each year a concerning amount of rubbish is found”.

“The efforts of those involved in the event saves the department ongoing costs associated with the collection and removal of rubbish from the facility,” she said.
