Wanneroo: volunteers needed to help elderly, disabled stay at home

A WANNEROO community group is seeking volunteers to help the elderly and people with disabilities live independently at home.

Volunteer Task Force (VTF) provides gardening, shopping, home maintenance and social support services.

Beldon resident Sara Munagorri has volunteered with the group for more than five years and last month won the Senior Citizen award at the City of Joondalup’s Australia Day awards.

Volunteer supervisor Michelle William said the group was holding an open day and sausage sizzle in Wanneroo on February 16 to attract members.

“For the first time ever, we are really low on volunteers in the northern suburbs covering Warwick right up to Two Rocks to enable us to deliver vital services,” she said.

“Volunteering with VTF is totally flexible and we desperately need new volunteers for gardening, transport driving and social support.”

Visit 9 Leach Road, Wanneroo on February 16, 2.30pm to 6pm, or call 9318 5700.
