Warning to dog owners after poison threat

Anton La MacchiaJoondalup Times

A PERTH dog owner has issued a warning to others after he received a chilling letter threatening to poison his dog with “ratsak meatballs”.

Facebook user Dysie Dyson, a dog owner from Perth’s northern suburbs, said the letter he received was shocking.

He received the letter on Monday evening.

Mr Dyson took to Facebook on Monday evening urging pet owners to be vigilant in the Craigie area, specifically in the Spinaway Street and Beltana Road vicinity.

“I’ve got some ratsak meat balls, if you don’t shut your f****** dog up, I will, final warning”, the threatening letter reads.

Mr Dyson had been on holiday the past three weeks and arranged for his niece to look after his house and dog.

She herself was also on holiday and was home majority of the time.

She didn’t report any unusual activity to Mr Dyson about the dog’s behaviour.

“I have been a responsible dog owner for 35 years and this is the first time I have ever seen anything like this directed at me and my pet,” he said.

“I work from home and the dog, who’s 12 years old, is inside most of the days and nights, so it’s easy enough for me to control her behaviour.”

A former resident of the area said on Facebook that he had received a similar letter about a year earlier.

The incident has been reported to City of Joondalup, RSPCA WA and WA Police.
