Warwick bushland fire deliberately lit

FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a deliberately lit fire that burned 2ha of bushland in Warwick last Friday.

There was no threat to homes but there was a lot of smoke, forcing the Department of Fire and Emergency Services to issue an alert at 2pm before an all-clear notice at 4pm for people living near Lloyd Drive and Erindale and Beach roads.

“Firefighters have worked tirelessly together with other agencies since the fire was reported at 1.37pm,” a department statement said.

People are asked to report any suspicious behaviour to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

The Department of Parks and Wildlife continued prescribed burning in bushland on Tuesday and Wednesday 7km east and 10km north of Wanneroo.
