A WARWICK researcher has received $30,000 to investigate links between sleep disturbance and depression in pregnant women.

Karen Redhead was among 15 researchers who received grants and scholarships through the Spinnaker Health Research Foundation as part of its annual grants program.

The PhD student was named a recipient of the Spinnaker grant, as well as the Michael G Kailis Research Scholarship.

She and fellow researchers will measure the sleep patterns of women in pregnancy, and both women and babies six months postpartum, investigating how poor sleep relates to mood and depression.
