A WOODVALE man was allegedly melting stolen jewellery to hawk at pawnbrokers.
Police this week charged the 39-year-old man with 16 counts of burglary, alleging he was in possession of about 160 pieces of jewellery.
Acting Senior Sergeant Stuart Fairley said police apprehended the man as part of a joint investigation into Woodvale burglaries between Joondalup Detectives, Joondalup Police and the Hillarys Local Policing Team.
He said officers apprehended the man about 6.30pm on April 21.
Police alleged he was in possession of gold smeltering equipment when they searched his home, accusing him of using it to melt down jewellery.
