Your chance to help deserving charities

RESIDENTS are reminded the City of Joondalup is holding its second charity clothing collection this Saturday.

Trucks will be set up from 9am and 2pm behind Craigie Leisure Centre and at the City’s administration building on Boas Avenue.

Goods collected will be distributed to Anglicare WA, St Vincent de Paul Society and Salvos Stores, with donors able to choose which charity will receive their items.

The City has been working with the three charities on ways to collect second-hand clothing donations in the community since it banned charity bins on public land last year.

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the event would also help to prevent illegal dumping at charity collection bins.

“Almost three tonnes of clothing was collected at our inaugural event in September last year and we hope to eclipse that amount at our first collection event of 2016,” he said.

WHAT TO BRING

Items to bring: Clothing, textiles, towels, bed linen.

Items not accepted: Non-textiles, furniture, white goods, hazardous waste or electronic waste.
