OWNERS Tim and Alex have turned this Edgewater residence into a true family home for their three young children, making full use of the practical layout and sprawling spaces on the 731sq m block.
The house, which was built in 1989, has four bedrooms, a study, very generous living spaces and a welcoming backyard with a pool to cater to everyone’s needs.
“This house has been an amazing family home and has the perfect layout,” Alex said.
“We have a massive alfresco area with cafe blinds, which allows us to eat our meals outside all year round and is where the kids play regardless of the weather.
“The kitchen overlooks the patio area, pool and playroom, which allows me to keep an eye on the kids while preparing meals.
“I have loved our enormous open-plan kitchen and dining area, which is blessed with a huge amount of storage space that I will undoubtedly miss enormously.”
Tim and Alex have cleverly separated the front of the home into a parents’ retreat that can be closed off from the rest of the house containing the master bedroom, study and a formal lounge room.
“This means we can shut the door when the kids go to bed and enjoy a glass of wine and not being surrounded by kids’ toys,” Alex said.
“Also, all the kids bedrooms are a good size and are close together.”
They have upgraded the laundry room, ensuite, installed solar heating for the pool and a skylight in the middle of the home to brighten the whole living area.
As a bonus, the home has also been freshly painted throughout and comes with ducted airconditioning, a woodburning fireplace and Crimsafe security on all doors and windows, and extra room to park a caravan, boat or trailer.
“Our favourite place is the gazebo overlooking the pool, fish pond and waterfall,” Alex said.
“Our children’s favourite place is the fairy garden under the weeping mulberry tree in the front garden, where they sometimes take their picnic and play for hours on end.
“My husband loves the big shed with workbench, the easy maintenance gardens, and ample parking.
“I love that our home is only a couple of houses away from the lake, which has wonderful walking/cycling trails, playgrounds and picnic spots, and is only nine houses away from the school and day-care centre, so we can walk to school everyday.”
The property is also in walking distance to the train station and the local high school, and is an easy drive to Lakeside Joondalup Shopping City.
