Playing the top grade of WA cricket for his age, the youngster struck a mammoth 250 unbeaten for Joondalup in a WACA district cricket under-17s match on Saturday, February 27.

The team captain completed the outstanding knock from 206 balls, including 25 fours and nine sixes, at Iluka Sporting Complex.

The opening batsman broke the previous club innings record of 203 and was just 22 short of claiming the biggest knock in the competition’s history.

Unsurprisingly, his efforts led the team to a thrashing of Subiaco Floreat, passing the visitors’ 7-139 for the loss of one wicket.

Joondalup went on to finish the match on 4-363.

Johns is looking a strong chance to skipper the side to the WA District Cricket Council Shield title, with Joondalup among the best sides in the competition this season.
