DENNIS Reyes hopes his son Carlos will inspire others to follow their sporting passions.
The Year 12 Belridge Secondary Education Support Centre (ESC) student is celebrating his success at this year’s National Judo Championships.
Carlos, who trains at Kano Judo Schools in Joondalup, won two bronze medals in the junior men under-55kg category and the kyu men under-60kg.

READ NOWMr Reyes said Carlos was selected to compete in Queensland following his silver medal at the state championships.
The Joondalup father said Carlos enjoyed judo because of the physical fitness and friendships.
“Rather than staying in the house playing computer games, I like him to go to judo for his self-defence, physical fitness and to make friends,” Mr Reyes said.
“It’s not only him doing judo but also his two sisters Stela and Denise; my eldest son stopped judo lessons because of his study at university.”
His sisters also joined him at the national championships, with Denise coming fourth as well as Stela, despite getting injured during the competition.
Mr Reyes said Carlos wanted to “be an example” for his fellow ESC students that they could also be successful in sports.
Carlos will now look to upcoming club competitions while training for next year’s state championships.
