EDGEWATER racing superstar Calan Williams is returning to Perth this week, taking a break from making his mark against the world’s best young drivers in Europe.
The 18-year-old has now completed four rounds of the Euroformula Open Championship, racing his Fortec Motorsport Formula 3 car at speeds close to 250km/h on some of the most famous F1 circuits.
Prior to the championship, he also competed in the three-round pre-season winter series with the team, along with test sessions at Barcelona and Albacete in Spain.
With a field of 17 drivers spanning 14 nationalities, and in his first season in Europe and first time at the challenging circuits, Williams came sixth at Hungaroring in Hungary and seventh at both Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Paul Ricard in France.
He has also qualified strongly, finishing inside the top 10 eight out of 10 times.
As the current Australian F3 champion, Williams is on track to reach his goal of racing Formula 1.
“My ultimate goal has not changed since I started following motorsport at six years old and that is to become a Formula 1 world champion,” he said.
