Hillarys Yacht Club: members honoured for sailing contribution

THREE Hillarys Yacht Club members were recognised for their achievements and contribution to the sport of sailing at the AGM on Sunday.

A winner of the world junior helm title at the World Tasar Championships in 2014 and Australian junior helm in the Australian Tasar Championships in 2015, Nick Willis was named junior sports star for 2016.

Todd Giraudo, whose achievements as a double-handed sailor where he is a dominant force in offshore events winning regularly and culminating in the Blue Water Championship was named senior sports star.

Outstanding club member Ian McCall was named best club person for his selfless contribution in many areas especially the angling section where he is skipper of the club fishing vessel, Balaton Jack.

Ian is regularly seen at the club maintaining boats, rods and tackle in preparation for angling competitions.

The commodore thanked the many volunteers and dedicated staff for their efforts to make Hillarys such a success.
