Mullaloo and Sorrento surf life saving club members make state teams

MULLALOO and Sorrento surf life saving clubs will be represented on the national stage next year with several members making state teams.

Mullaloo’s Soraya Lee (19) and Sorrento’s Sydney Rafferty (19), Tai Kirkpatrick (17) and Jackson Symonds (25) have made the Western Suns Ocean/Beach Interstate Team for 2019 to compete in the Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) Interstate Championships in NSW on January 24.

Also selected in the Western Suns Youth Development Squad for the same championships were Mullaloo under-17s Aaron Gigney and Harriet Brown and Sorrento under-15s Lucas Wilson, Declan Cook and under-14 Caleb Bailey, with Claire Rafferty named as team manager.

Both of Mullaloo’s under-19 crews have also made the Surf Rowers Interstate Team, which will compete in the SLSA Surf Boat Interstate Championships in NSW on February 15.

The Big Rigs male crew is made up of Tyler Nuku, Sean Coventry, Luke Triston and Isaac Crothers, while Neptune’s Daughters comprises of Elise Dagnia, Anna Gregson, Sophie Hummerston and Ciera Madden, with Stuart Clarke sweeping for both.

“This is a great result for both teams after undefeated wins in their carnivals to date,” Sandy Clarke, who was named Surf Rowers Interstate Team manager, said.
