MULLALOO Beach was buzzing with activity on December 2 when the surf club hosted the first round of the Navy Surf Boat Series alongside the Surf Life Saving WA state team trials.

In the surf boats, Mullaloo’s under-19 male crew Big Rigs and under-19 female crew Neptune’s Daughters, both of which are in their second season of competition, won their finals.

“Throughout winter and pre-season, their training has focused on preparation to make the WA state representative team that will travel to NSW in February,” communications manager Sandy Clarke said.

“With results to date, both teams are looking to be strong contenders.”

Soraya Lee, who placed first in the open female surf race and third in the open ironwoman, has also reaped the benefits of winter and pre-season training. She also hopes to make the state team for Newport, NSW in late January.
