Mullaloo Surf Life Saving Club set for strong showing at Australian IRB Championships

The 18 athletes, led by coach Laurie de Mamiel and manager Dave Thomson, will also represent the state at the Interstate Championships before the national championships in Mollymook, NSW from July 22 to 24.

The announcement follows the club’s strong performance at the IRB State Championships at Trigg Beach on June 26 – the culmination of the 2016-17 IRB competition season.

After three scoring rounds and the State Championships, Mullaloo was presented with two of the three major awards.

Tied on 18 points but winning on countback, Mullaloo Octopus won the Combined Marine Shield for the best performing female single rescue crew across the season, while Mullaloo Snapping Turtles won the Dave Clark Shield for the men.

The third award – the Frank Senior Trophy for the most points accumulated by a club across the season – went to Fremantle SLSC.
