ONE in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.

Eight women die from breast cancer every day in Australia.

We hope to raise awareness around startling statistics such as these in tonight’s game against the Illawarra Hawks at Perth Arena.

In support of Dawn and Trevor Gleeson, the Perth Wildcats will be donning pink jerseys as we raise funds for Breast Cancer WA.

I really hope our team draws inspiration from Dawn.

She is a remarkable woman who has displayed nothing but courage.

Just a month after winning our third championship, Dawn discovered a lump in her breast, which subsequently was a diagnosis of breast cancer for the second time.

I hope our team can do three things for Dawn and everyone else battling breast cancer:

– raise funds;

– raise awareness;

– and put in an effort of which all those fighting breast cancer would be proud.

We face the Hawks for the second time and I expect nothing less than a fierce battle.

Rotnei Clarke is one of the more potent perimeter players in the league and AJ Ogilvy is a premier big man.

We obviously had a disappointing result against Cairns Taipans on the road on Sunday, where we were simply out-worked, out-hustled and out- played.

I look forward to seeing how the team responds tonight.
