NBL: Perth Wildcats wary of big road trip ahead after Townsville Crocodiles game at Perth Arena

Mark DonaldsonJoondalup Times

WE face our first really big challenge at the Perth Wildcats this week with one of our dreaded NBL road trips.

Even though we aren’t looking past Friday night’s game against Townsville Crocodiles at Perth Arena, we will then face another three teams in the space of seven days.

For the last few years, players have always stated they wanted to play games regularly so it’s good to see the league has responded with a challenging schedule.

Last week’s win against the Breakers wasn’t the prettiest, but you’re always going to take an ugly win over a pretty loss.

For us we came out a bit tentative, we didn’t play aggressive and our tenacious defence was definitely lacking.

Our starting group responded in a terrific manner after halftime but I thought Jesse Wagstaff and Tom Jervis did a fantastic job in providing plenty of energy and having a great impact on the game off the bench.

Jermaine Beal showed us again why he’s a tremendous talent, his poise down the stretch was exceptional and he really showed us how special he is.

We had a tremendous crowd last week and would love nothing more than to replicate that tomorrow night.

The place was absolutely rocking.

It creates an intimidating atmosphere for our opponents.

Get around us as we chase win number three.
